| Graves' Disease(GD)is the thyroid hyperfunction caused by various diseases—a disease complex results from producing excessive amount of thyroid hormone.Besides the thyroid gland pathological change,GD may also have other complications.Among them,Graves' ophthalmopathy(GO)occurring to the GD patents occupies 50%and is the most common external symptom for the thyroid hyperfunction.Modern medical research shows GO is a specified auto-immune disease disfiguring patients' appearances and damaging their visual organs.Target organs are thyroid glands and retrobulbar knot tissue.The main clinical manifestation includes:retraction of eyelid,drooping eyelids,the dropsy of eyelid,the process of eyeball,exhausted external eye muscle,and optic neutropathy.Because its pathogenesis is still not clear,therefore,at present there has not been effective and long-term clinical treatment of alleviation and method of eradicating the disease.The Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)thought this sickness is caused by the excesses of the six exopathogens and five emotions and so on.The factors of pathogenesis invade organism extremely.Gradually,internal organs and qi and blood fail to function regularly,causing phlegm and wet stasis to be accumulated around the eyes.The massive clinical reports prove that Chinese medicine is effective in improving the clinical symptom,reducing the eyeball kurtosis,as well as adjusting immunity function.Moreover,it possesses strength such as low treatment cost and minor side effect.The modern medicine treats this disease,mainly using the immunosuppression law,eye socket in the radiotherapy,and the surgery therapy.The weakness of the first two methods is low curative effect and larger poisonous side effect.The surgery therapy is not easily accepted by patients.Because integrating Chinese and western drugs can obviously shorten treatment process,improve the symptom, reduce medical side effect and enhance curative effect.Therefore,the integration of Chinese and Western medicine therapies is the best way to treating GO at present.Objective:Based on the former studies,this research initially indicates how Chinese medicine adopts the therapeutic method for nourishing liver yin and strengthening the spleen to treating GO and being regarded as the clinical and theoretical basis of how to screen,research and develop over-the-counter medicine for the Graves ophthalmopathy in the future through observing the clinical symptom of Suoyan Decoction toward GO and the standard influential outcome in laboratories.Method:This research uses the forward-looking stochastic comparison method, tallying 60 patients satisfied with the GO diagnosis standard,integrating the standard and eliminating standard Graves ophthalmopathy patients.They are randomly divided into the treatment group(Eye-Shrinking Decoction +Thiamazole)of 30 patients and the control group(Prednisone+Thiamazole)of 30 patients.Observe the whole body symptoms,an eye subjective symptom, suddenly the side of eye-tubercle,the vision,the thyroxine level and the antibody(T3,T4,FT3,FT4,TSH,TGAb,the TpoAb value)and occurrence situation of medicine side effect.The above observation targets are considered the variable entrance and the data processing of SPSS is used.The treatment periods of two groups are both six months and the curative effect is evaluated after then.Result:(1)The curative effect of the treatment group can obviously reduce the eyeball kurtosis and enhance the vision(P＜0.01)while that of the control group is not obvious.The curative effect between two groups after treatment possesses the significant difference after the treatment(P＜0.01).(2)In the Thiamazole underlie treatment premise under,two groups both improve the thyroid function,reducing T3,T4,FT3,FT4 and enhance the TSH horizontal aspect with no obvious difference(P＞0.05).But in decline of the level of TGAb and TpoAb,the treatment group is more obvious than the control group. The comparison between two groups possesses statistics significance(P＜0.05). (3)After treatment,there is improvement in regulating hypermetabolism for the treatment group,especially in improving the symptoms of asthenia of the spleen and hyperactivity of fire due to liver yin asthenia.In terms of the symptoms of eye subjective,curative effect of the treatment group is also superior to that of the control group.(4)According to the statistics conducted after the treatment,the total effective rate of the treatment group is 86.7%,surpassing obviously that of the control group which is 60%.The comparison between two groups possesses statistics significance(P＜0.05).(5) In additions,the treatment group of integrating Chinese and western medicine has less side effects in the course of treatment while the control group of western medicine finds plenty of patients appear to some side effects such as the skin rash,decrease in leukocyte,mild harm in liver function and stomachache,Cushing' s syndrome.Conclusion:The research finds that the curative effect of Suoyan Decoction toward Graves ophthalmopathy is not through suppressing thyroid function. Discuss its possible action mechanism:use the therapeutic method for reinforcing Qi and nourishing yin,regulating liver and spleen,carring on the whole adjustment to organism,and suppressing eye socket the week own immune in response to achieving the goal of treating the Graves ophthalmopathy. The assistance of Chinese medicine of nourishing spleen,eliminating wind and activate blood can relieve the dropsy of retrobulbar knot tissue and facilitate running eyes and GAG excretion to curb the process of eyeballs and improve the symptom of phlegm stasis around eyes.
