Objective: To explore the protective effects and the mechanism of tea polyphenols on acute renal ischemia reperfusion injury (ARIRI) in rats models. Methods: The model of rat's ARIRI was produced.42 male rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: Sham-operated group (group S), renal ischemia reperfusion injury groups (group RIRI) and tea polyphenols precondiontioning groups (group TP). The levels of Scr,serum super oxide dimutase (SOD), serum mlondialdehyde (MDA), renal tissue's SOD and MDA in each group were respectively detected renal ischemia reperfusion( RIR) for 0 minutes and after RIR for after 2 and 24hours, Pathological changes were also examined by light microscope. Results: Renal Pathological changes of tea polyphenols preconditioning group reduced significantly compared with false operating group (P<0.05), while tea polyphenols preconditioning decreased the levels of Scr significantly (P<0.05). There were statistic difference of the serum levels of SOD, MDA and renal tissue's SOD, MDA in tea polyphenols preconditioning group and RIR group (P<0.05). Conclusions: tea polyphenols preconditioning group to kidney could protect the kidney against renal ischemia reperfusion injury.
