Objective To study the expressions and signification of Skp2, p27, galectin-3 and their relationships in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, we can know their functions and investigate the possibilities of them for therapy in CIN and cervical cancer. Furthermore,we can find new evidence for clinical diagnosis and defence. Methods: The expressions of Skp2, galectin-3 and p27 were examined by immunohistochemical method in 60 cases of CIN, 20 cases of cervical chronic inflammation and 20 cases of normal cervical tissue. Results: The positive cells of Skp2 and galectin-3 were mainly distributed in the squamous cells of CIN and partly basilar cells. But the positive cells of p27 were mainly distributed in superficial and intermediate squamous cells without CIN. The positive rate of Skp2(respectively 70%, 85%, 100%) was significantly higher in cases of CINâ… ,â…¡,â…¢than that in cases of cervical chronic inflammation and normal cervical tissue(respectively 0%, 10%, P<0.05), its positive rate increased with the increasing grades in CIN. The positive rate of Skp2 in CINâ…¢was significantly higher than that in CINâ… (P<0.05).But the positive rate of p27(respectively 10%, 10%) was significantly lower in cases of CINâ…¡,â…¢than that in cases of cervical chronic inflammation and normal cervical tissue(respectively 90%, 60%, P < 0.05). The positive rate of galectin-3(respectively 75%, 85%, 95%) was significantly higher in cases of CINâ… ,â…¡,â…¢than that in cases of cervical chronic inflammation and normal cervical tissue(respectively 5%, 5%, P<0.05), its positive rate increased with the increasing grades in CIN.The positive correlation was found between the expressions of Skp2 and galectin-3 (r=0.975, P<0.05). The closely negative correlation was found between the expressions of Skp2, galectin-3 and p27 (respectively r=-0.975, r=-0.947, P<0.05). The expressions of them were not related to patient nation and age in CIN(P>0.05). Conclusions: The higher expression of Skp2 and lower expression of p27 might be related to the carcinogenesis and progression of cervical malignant tumors. The combined examination of Skp2 and p27 would help in the early supervising and defending the development of cervical disease. galectin-3 might have a facilitative role in the CIN.
