| Objective To compare the effect of percutaneous radio frequency ther- mocoagulation and microvascular decompression Methord Sixty-two patients were enrolled, forty-five patients with idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia were treated by percutaneous radiofrequency thermocoagulation, the another seventeen patients were treated by microvascular decompression, their effect were studied respectively Resalts Thirty-seven patients were cured by percutaneous radiofrequency ther mocoagulation, while fifteen patient were cured by microvascular decompression, the cure rate of two group were no significant differences. The main complications of percutaneous radiofrequency ther mocoagulation were Hearing loss (2.2 %)and cornea ablate(2.2%),while Hearing loss (11.7 %) and intracranial infection (5.8 %) were the main complications of microvascular decompression Conclusion The efffect of treating idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia is similar by radio frequency thermocoagulation and microvascular decompression, but radio frequency thermocoagulation has more superior then microvascular decompression in some hands, such as safty, convenience and economy. |
