Objective:To elucidate the expression of interleukin-18(IL-18) and interleukin13 (IL-13) in renal tissues and its clinical significance in human systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE).Methods:The expression of IL-18 and IL-13 in renal tissue was examined by immunohistochemistry SP technology. Results:Level of IL-13 andIL-18 in renal of LN patients were significantly higher than in control groups.Level of IL-13 in without clinical renal symptoms LN patients were significantly higher than in control groups.Level of IL-18 in without clinical renal symptoms LN patients were not significantly higher than in control groups.Level of IL-18 in renal of LN patients were significantly higher than in without clinical renal symptoms LN patients.Level of IL-13 in renal of LN patients were not significantly higher than in without clinical renal symptoms LN patients.Expression of IL-13 and IL-18 were negative in control groups. Level of IL-13 andIL-18 were not significantly different among all types of LN.Level of IL-13 andIL-18 were not positively correlated with Ccr and serum C3.Conclusion:IL-13 and IL-18 may play a role in renal damage of LN.
