Objective To assess the effectiveness of nephron sparing surgery for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma.Mothods A retrospective analysis of the clinical documents of 41 cases of RCC who underwent nephron sparing surgery.Of the 41 patients from September 2004 to October 2007 ,22 were male and 19 were female,with an average age of 51.7 years.The mean diameter of the tumors was 3.65 cm.The evaluated factors included postoperative complications and incidence of postoperative local recurrence.At the same time we choose 35 renal cell carcinoma cases belong to the clinical stage T1 with radical nephrectomy as the retrospective control.Results There were no postoperative complications. the Tl N0 M0 stage was found in all cases . the histological subtype was clear cell carcinoma in 32 eases, chromophobe RCC in 5 cases,Papillary RCC in 4 cases,There were no postoperative complications such as leakage of urine observed,and no distant or local recurrence.Conclusions Nephron sparing surgery is safe and effective for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma with Early,localized tumors.
