ObjectiveTo summarize the academic thought and clinical experience of treating ulcerative colitis(UC)of Professor Chen Zhi-shui.To assess the clinical effect of jianpiling tablet and kushenhuaihua mixture on treating UC with syndrome of deficient spleen and damp-heat,discuss the posible mechanisms through clinical research,which going to provide new ideas and methods.MethodThrough systematically coordinating the theory about UC in traditional medicine, extensively collecting the clinical date in treating UC of Professor Chen Zhi-shui and combine with the experience of leafing from tutor,summarize the academic thought and clinical experience of treating UC of Professor Chen Zhi-shui.96 patients of UC with syndrome of deficient spleen and damp-heat were randomly divided into two groups.48 patients in treatment group were treated with jianpiling tablet and kushenhuaihua mixture.48 patients in control group were treated with Etiasa. Four weeks constitute one course,the treatment consists two courses.Observe and analysis the changes of symptom-comlex integral calculus,colonic mucosal through colonmirror,Interleukin-4(IL-4)and Interleukin-8(IL-8)in blood serum before and after treatment in both groups,and compare with the control group.The remedial effects of jianpiling tablet and kushenhuaihua mixture on treating UC patients with syndrome of deficient spleen and damp-heat were evaluated.ResultsPrimary academic thought:①UC is belong to diarrhes,dysentery and bellyache in traditional medicine.②based on the theory of traditional medicine,"the spleen is the foundation of life","the spleen is responsible for transport and conversion","the spleen is responsible for the defence principle","diarrhes is ascribed to spleen",consider that the asthenia of spleen and stomach and damp-heat intemally brewing is the major pathogenesis of UC.The asthenia of spleen and stomach is the fundamental of UC.The damp,heat,blood stasis and toxic factor are superficiality of UC.③The therapeutic principles of UC that causal treatment with strengthen the spleen and invigorate the vital energy and expectant remedy with clear away poisonous substances,anti-diarrhea with astringents,relieve spasm and pain,enrich the blood and muscles is established.④The preparation,jianpiling tablet and kushenhuaihua mixture,of treating UC is prepared.Primary clinical experience:①The patients of UC in active stage were treated with sijunzi decoction and the medicament of remove heat,eliminate damp and dispel blood stasis.At the same time,the relationship between strengthen the spleen and eliminate the evils;regulate qi and activate the blood;relieve accumulation and astringent method is challenge attention.②The patients of UC in remission stage were treated with jianpiling tablet.③The patients of refractory UC were treated with jianpiling tablet and kushenhuaihua mixture.④The patients of severe UC were treated with Etiasa, baitouweng and xijiaodihuang decoction and sustainment therapy.Clinical research:The complete remission rate was 66.67%,the total effective rate was 89.58%in treatment group.Jianpiling tablet and kushenhuaihua mixture could depress the level of symptom-complex integral calculus of UC patients with syndrome of deficient spleen and damp-heat obviously;Jianpiling tablet and kushenhuaihua mixture could repair and protect the intestinal mucosa,depress the level of IL-8 in blood serum and increase the level of IL-4 in blood serum.And it was significantly better than the control group(p＜0.05).ConclusionThe asthenia of spleen and stomach and damp-heat intemally brewing is major pathogenesis of UC.That causal treatment with strengthen the spleen and invigorate the vital energy and expectant remedy with clear away poisonous substances,anti-diarrhea with astringents,relieve spasm and pain,enrich the blood and muscles is major therapeutic principles of UC.Jianpiling tablet and kushenhuaihua mixture are effective preparation of treating UC.The major mechanisms of jianpiling tablet and kushenhuaihua mixture is relating to depress the level of IL-8,increase the level of IL-4 and regulates the balance of inflammatory cytokines and proinflammatory cytokines.
