The maple syrup is a natural green food which is separated and concentrat ed from the sugar maple juice. It contains lots of bioactive components, such as reducing sugar, polyphenolic compounds (phenols and flavonoids), trace elements (calcium, zinc, and magnesium), vitamin E, vitamin B1 etc. It has multiple biological effects, such as improving cardiovascular circulation, regulating immune system and anti-oxidation etc. It is praised as "Water for Life." Maple syrup has a long history, and welcomed by the people. This study takes on great application value. Objective: The aim of the study was to explore the effect of Maple syrup in the alleviative exercise-induced fatigue and its related mechanism through measuring the exhaustive swimming time and the associated biochemical indicators. Methods: 160 male ICR mice (body mass: 18-22g) were randomly assigned to four experiments based on body weight: The effect of maple syrup on enhancing endurance exercise capacity; The effect of maple syrup on the content of hemoglobin and serum urea nitrogen; The effect of maple syrup on the blood lactate metabolism; The effect of maple syrup on regulation of energy metabolism and antioxidant role of indicators; And then each of the experiments were randomly divided into four groups: the control group (CG), the low dose group (l.25g·kg-1, LG), the medium dose group (2.50g·kg-1, MG) , and the high dose group (5.00g·kg-1, HG), N=10.Dose group and the control group were given maple syrup and distilled water by Per 10 g body weight to 0.1 ml. Body weight was weighted once every two days, and then to adjust the gavage dose according to body weight.1 The effect of maple syrup on enhancing endurance exercise capacity1.1 Effect of Maple syrup on the body weight and organ indexBody weight was weighted before giving maple syrup , and then calculated the changes in body weight during the experiment; At the end of the experiment, cardiac, liver, spleen, kidney were respectively weighed, and then the organ index was calculated. The results show that: The body weight gain and organ index of the dose groups compared with CG have no significant differences (P>0.05).1.2 Effect of Maple syrup on loading exhaustive swimming timeMice were carrying the loading exhaustive swimming test with their tails burdened with lead sinkers (5% body weight). And swimming time was recorded since the mice were putted into the water to the head completely submerged in water surface that continue 8s. The results show that: LG and HG of exhaustive swimming time were significantly higher than the CG (P<0.05). Maple syrup can improve endurance sports function in mice.2 The effect of maple syrup on the content of Hb and BUN2.1 Effect of Maple syrup on the content of hemoglobinThe 20μl venous blood was collected from the eyes of canthus vein before swimming. And then the content of hemoglobin was determined by colorimetric assay. The results show that: the hemoglobin content of dose groups compared with CG has no significant differences (P>0.05).2.2 Effect of Maple syrup on serum urea in miceThe mice were carrying no-loading swimming 90 min, and the venous blood was collected from the eye canthus venous blood in mice after 30min rest of swimming. The content of serum urea nitrogen was determined by Diacetyl oxime. The results show that: the content of serum urea nitrogen of dose groups is significantly lower than the CG (P<0.05). Maple syrup can improve the efficiency of aerobic metabolism and reduce the body's use of proteins.3 The effect of maple syrup on the blood lactate metabolismMice were carrying loaded swimming 10 min with their trails burdened with lead sinkers (4% body weight) to establish of high blood lactate model. Then the content of BLA was determined respectively before swimming, after swimming and 30 min after swimming. Finally, blood lactate average chance rates were calculated. As results:①The content of blood lactate of dose group is significantly lower than CG after swimming and 30 min after swimming (P<0.05);②Blood lactate average rose rate of the dose group is significantly lower than CG (P<0.05). The results show that: Maple syrup can inhibit movement of blood lactate production, reduce the accumulation of blood lactate in vivo. It can delay the formation of fatigue.4 The effect of maple syrup on metabolism of regulation energy and antioxidation4.1 Effect of Maple syrup on contents of muscle glycogen and liver glycogenThe mice were carrying no-loading swimming 90 min to establish the campaign fatigue model. Then the liver and the lower limb skeletal muscle from a fixed location were weighted. Finally, the content of muscle glycogen and liver glycogen were determined by Anthrone Method. The results show that: The content of muscle and liver glycogen of dose group are significantly higher than CG (P<0.05). Maple syrup can play a retard the effectiveness of the body fatigue through increasing the content of muscle glycogen and liver glycogen storage.4.2 Effect of Maple syrup on serum activity of LDH, SDH, and LPSThe blood was collected by picking eyeball after swimming immediately, and then the indicators were determined by colorimetric method. The results show that:①The activity of LDH in dose group is significantly higher than CG (P<0.05);②The activity of serum SDH of MG and HG is significantly higher than CG (P<0.05).③Activity of LPS is significantly lower than CG (P<0.05). That maple syrup can not only speed up the removal of blood lactate in vivo, and maintain the stability of the environment, but also can enhance the body aerobic metabolism process to ensure that energy supply and avoid fatigue the production. Maple syrup can also protection of pancreatic secretion of digestive enzyme stability, and maintain persistent campaign.4.3 Effect of Maple syrup on the activity of liver tissue SOD, GSH-Px and the content of MDAThe liver homogenate was prepared after swimming immediately, and then the activity of SOD, GSH-Px, and the content of MDA in the liver homogenate were determined by colorimetric method. The results show that:①The activity of SOD in dose group is significantly higher than CG (P<0.05);②The activity of GSH-Px in MG is significantly higher than CG (P<0.05);③ The content of MDA in dose group is significantly lower than CG (P<0.05). Maple syrup can increase the body's antioxidant enzyme activity, decrease lipid peroxidation reaction, protect of the integrity of biofilm structure and function of the mice, so it can delay the formation of exercise-induced fatigue. Conclusion: Through the above studies we believe that: The efficacy of the alleviative exercise-induced fatigue of Maple syrup can be achieved by increasing serum LDH and SDH activity, and promoting blood lactate clearance, improving the efficiency of aerobic metabolism, increasing muscle glycogen and liver glycogen level of reserves, as well as raising antioxidant enzymes SOD, GSH-Px activity, decreasing lipid peroxidation reactions taking place. In conclusion, the author holds that: Maple syrup can enhance and improve the function of sports system. The maple syrup has the function of the alleviative exercise-induced fatigue.
