| Objective To examine and evaluate whether untreated gestational abnormal glucose metabolism are associated with poor maternal and fetal outcomes. Methods In a cohort of 160 women who delivered at our hospital during period of 2006-2007 and who performed 75g oral glucose tolerance test as of 24-38 weeks of gestation , we conducted a retrospective study to compare the pregnancy outcomes with three groups: normal glucose tolerance group (n=98)?gestational abnormal glucose metabolism(GDM /GIGT ) group (n=37)?gestational diabetes mellitus group (n=25). Women with gestational abnormal glucose metabolism during pregnancy were untreated. Rusults The women with abnormal glucose metabolism (GDM /GIGT ) were significantly older, obese than control subjects. The proportion of preeclampsia and cesarean section was significantly higher in untreated gestational abnormal glucose metabolism (GDM /GIGT )subjects than normal glucose tolerance subjects(P<0.05). The proportion of preeclampsia? infants who were preterm birth and macrosomic was independently associated with untreated GDM /GIGT during pregnancy (OR 5.69?11.6? 7.1). Conclusion Untreated gestational abnormal glucose metabolism was associated with increased risk of the outcomes studied. |
