| Objective For the clinic demands,to evaluate the effect of the silane coupling on the repair strength of aged composites with different filled contents and the mechanism of the silane coupling on the composite repair was speculated. Methods Firstly, four cuboids samples were prepared for every filler contents(72%,74%,78%and 80%).Secondly,the aging of samples were accomplished by a 5,000 times thermocycling between 5℃to 55℃with each dwelled time about 30s.After abrasing the aged surface with diamond burs, then etching with 35%etch gel,the four samples of every filler contents were subjected randomly(N=4,n=2/per group) to either a bonding agent(Clearfil SE Bond)(called comparision groups) or bonding agent(Clearfil SE Bond) with silane coupling (Monobond-S)(called experiment groups).Thirdly, the substrates bonded with resin composite(Brilliant,coltene/whaledent,Switzerland) again.Forthly, all these new prepared samples were examined by Microtensile strength test and the Fracture surfaces were compared by the scanning electron microscope(SEM).In addition, another twelve cuboids samples were prepared(N=12,n=3) and thermocycled like above-mentioned step 1 and 2.Subsequently,the samples were modified by three methods.Such as no treatment, diamond burs and diamond burs with silane coupling(Monobond-S).Furthermore,the modified surfaces of different samples were examined by SEM,too. Finally, all the data were analyzed using factorial experiments,t-test,one-way ANOVON or Kruskal wallis test and chi-square test. Results The bonding strength of the experiment groups was stronger than that of the comparison groups. It showed that the strongest bonding strength existed in the experiment groups with filler contents about 74%or 78%(P<0.01).But it was the least bonding strength sample with the filler contents about 80%both in the experiment groups and the comparison groups(the experiment groups:41.52±8.37MPa, the comparison groups:39.65±7.07MPa).Conclusion Silane coupling could be used to improve the bonding strength in the composite repair. |
