This thesis mainly deals with screening of a series of Indonesia medicinal plants to treat hepatitis. As well as the chemical studies on liver protective bioactive constituents from Centella asiatica(L.)Urb.The thesis is composed of two chapters:PartⅠStudies on screening of liver protection from Indonesia medicinal plantsA series of Indonesia medicinal plants have been investigated systematically, chemical parts of all the plants extraction are obtained respectively by solvent partition(petroleum ether, ethyl acetateand n-butanol,et al).The target part was confirmed by eveluating the protective effect of carbon tetrachlofide(CCl4)injured primary cultured rat hepatocytes, with modern pharmacological experiment. We therefore initiate a program aiming at finding the active chemical constituents from the chosen plants guided by pharmic experiment.PartⅡStudies on bioactive constituents of liver protectionWe investigate the chemical constituents of Centella asiatica(L.)Urb.guided by carbon tetrachloride(CCl4)injured primary cultured rat experiment.Centella asiatica is not only a famous Indonesia medicinal plants, but also a widely used chinese medicine, which is recorded in CHP2005.It is clinically used to treat injuries from falls, infective hepatitis and epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis,et al.According to pharmacological tests of liver protection, both ethyl acetate and n-butanol extract of Centella asiatica possess notable treat hepatocytes activity against CCl4 injuries.Chemical studies on these parts in led to the isolation of 15 compounds, among which 9 compounds were identified by various spectroscopic methods as Kaempferol(1),Quercetin(2),Asiaticoside(3),Asiatic acid (4),Madecassic acid(5),p-Hydroxybenzoic aicd(6),2,5- dihydorxybenzoic acid(7),β-sitosterol(8),β-sistosterol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(9).
