Cyclohexenone and multifunctionalized cyclohexenone are important building blocks in the organic synthesis, unsaturated cyclic structure of which have a high reactivity. Therefore, they can be used to synthesize some substance with complex cyclic or heterocyclic structure. Cyclohexenone and multifunctionalized cyclohexenone could be applicated to a wide range of field. In addition, there are many nature products with antibiotic and antitumor activity whose common feature are highly oxygenated cyclohexenone central unit. There are a lot of methods to obtain cyclohexenone and multifunctionalized cyclohexenone. The transition-metal -complex-catalyzed cyclizations of unsaturated organic compounds have received increasing attentions as powerful tools for ring construction. We have applied the gold complexes system to 1,6-diynes, getting the hydrative cyclization product of cyclohex-2-enone derivatives in good yield. However, the method also has its limitation because of the high price of the gold catalyst and the using strong acid as co-catalyst. Nowadays, we have found that the Hg2+ have the similar catalytic activity, we have optimized the hydrative cyclization conditions and detected the application field.
