| Objective: To provide sight into treating the bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis in rats.Methods: Choosing randomly 8 of 88 Sprague-Dawley rats as normal control group, the other 80 rats were divided randomized into 4 groups (20 rats/group): captopril-treated group; acitretin-treated group; captopril with acitretin-treated group and model group, the treatment groups and the model group were injected intratracheally with bleomycin(5mg/kg) and the control group received sodium chloride. Then the treatment groups fed with captopril, acitretin, captopril and acitretin respectively and the model group fed with sodium chloride until they were killed. 5 rats in each group were sacrificed at 3d, 7d, 14d, 21d after intratrachel instillation for experimental check lung weights, the degrees of lung alveolitis and pulmonary fibrosis were checked by hemotoxylin and eosin colouration, detected the expression of transforming growth factor(TGF-β1) were assessed by immunohistochemistry technique.Results: The degrees of lung alveolitis and pulmonary fibrosis of treatment groups were significantly lower compared with the model group and the captopril with acitretin-treated group was the lowest one. The expression of TGF-β1 reaches peak at the 7d, 14d; The treatment groups were significantly lower compared with the model group(p﹤0.01) and that in captopril and acitretin-treated group was significantly lower as compared with captopril-treated group and acitretin-treated group(p﹤0.01) at the3d, 7d, 14d after intratrachel instillation.Conclusions: The expression of TGF-β1 was inhibited by captopril and acitretin The synergism effect of captopril and acitretin on pulmonary fibrosis in rats was observed.
