Mandibular lateral deformity is one of the most complex malocclusion. It affect seriously not only face but also occlusion function, even lead to temporom -andibular joint disorder. Recently study founded that a continuous lateral movement of the jaw may lead to perforations of both discs in their lateral part and may damage the lateral attachments of the disc to the condyle.Display degree of mandibular lateral deformity is aggravating gradually to grow at the same time, which is development trend from mandible shift to the genuine skeleton deformity. Also, mandibular lateral deformity impacted to sclerous and soft tissues, facial contour, arch form, tooth position, occlusion function, articulatio temporomandibularis, mandibular movement, condyle movement and masticatory movement. There was evident similarity of size and morphous in condylar process and glenoid fossa in everyone in whole. The concordant that between every construction in articulatio mandibularis was important to sustain its function .But whether there were some changes in morphous and symmetry and concordant between every construction of temporomandibular joint of both sides in adult with mandibular lateral deformity are still dimness. In this study, patients with mandibular lateral deformity were as sample and compare with those who exhibiting nomalocclusion. The mesofault radiographs of temporomandibular joint were used to investigate the correlation between mandibular lateral deformity and articulatio mandibularis and temporomandibular joint disturbance syndrome .The study consists of two parts:1. The changs of morphous and position of temporomandibular joint in adults with mandible deviationThe mesofault radiographs of temporomandibular joint were taken in 20 adult patients with mandible deviation and 20 adults with normal occlusion. All data were analysed with SPSS 13. 0 sofeware. The result showed that:In adult patients with mandible deviation, the hight of articular tubercle and glenoid fossa exponent of both side of temporomandibular joint were augmented,The angle of back bevel of condyle process of both side was dimin. The prosoblank and areas ratio of joint, the hight of condyle process and the upper hight of condyle process were dimin in deflected side .But The sup blank of condyle process, the hight of condyle process, the upper hight of condyle process, the angle of prosobevel of condyle process and the angle of back bevel of glenoid fossa were augmented in another side. It was explanation that the morphous of condyle process and glenoid fossa and the position of condyle process werw changed in adult patients with mandible deviation, especially, the changes in condyle process of deflected side were pronounced. 2. The research of symmetry of temporomandibular joint in adults with mandible deviationThe mesofault radiographs of temporomandibular joint were taken in 21 adult patients with mandible deviation, and the data described morphology of temporomandibular joint were analysed. The result showed that: In adult patients with mandible deviation, the condyle process of opposite side were anterior and subtus compare to deflected side. The hight of condyle process ,the upper hight of condyle process ,the gradient of prosobevel of condyle process and the gradient of back bevel of glenoid fossa were augmented compare to deflected side. The gradient of prosobevel of condyle process shoued positive correlation to the prosoblank of joint and the deep of glenoid fossa ,and the hight of condyle process shoued positive correlation to the upper hight of condyle process in both sides. The gradient of back bevel of condyle process shoued positive correlation to the gradient of back bevel of glenoid fossa in deflected side. The gradient of back bevel of condyle process shoued negative correlation to the sup blank of joint and the hight of articular tubercle in opposite side. It was explanation that there are some differents in morphology of both temporomandibular joint in adults with mandible deviation, and these changes showed some relations.
