Effect Of Guanjiezhitong Capsule On Free Radical Level In Serum And Articular Fluid Of Knee Osteoarthritis

Objective: To observe the effect of Guanjiezhitong capsule on free radical level in serum and articular fluid of Knee Osteoarthritis, and explore the possible mechanism of KOA. Methods: All 540 cases were randomly divided into three groups including treating group, control group 1 and control group 2. Each group include 180 cases. GuanJie ZhiTong capsule was used in treating group, ZhuangGuGuanJie pill used in control group 1,and Glucosamine Sulfate Capsules used in control group 2, the contents of NO,SOD in the serum and articular fluid specimens taken before treatment and 8 weeks after treatment were determined in every group and the total effective rate was observed.Results: The content of NO in the serum and articular fluid decrease, SOD enhance, and there was significant difference between treating group and control group. The total effective rate in treating group is 83.89%, and the apparent rate is 50.56%. Conclusions: Derived free radical and NO may play important roles in the developing process of KOA, Superfluous apoptosis of cartilage may be one of the pathway involved in the mechanism of articular cartilage degeneration. Because Guanjiezhitong Capsule can increase the content of SOD, decrease the content of NO in the articular fluids, reduce the apoptosis, it can improve the symptoms of KOA effectively and promote the repair of knee joint.
