Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of ZiShenQingGan (ZSQG) decoction in treating female delayed acne vulgaris (FDAV),to evaluate objectively the sexual hormone in patients and to assess the effect of ZSQG decoction on sexual hormone.Methods:87 cases with FDAV recruited was divided into two groups randomly, FDAV decoction group of 47 persons, as compared with CuoChuangYin(CCY) group of 40 persons, 8 weeks as a course.Before and after treatment, damage and distribution of skin, degree of pruritus and side effect were observed. Besides, 10 healthy female were selected as normal control. Serum levels of testosterone(T) and estradiol(E2) in all patients and healthy subjects as well as the clinical therapeutic effect of the treatments were observed and compared.Results:The total effective rate in the treated group and the control group was 76.59%and 93.62% respectively, comparison between them showed insignificant difference.Serum level of T in the patients were higher than that in healthy subjects(P﹤0.01), and showed no difference between the treated group and the control group. After treatment, it lowered significantly in the treated group and the controlled group. Other levels showed no significant change in both groups before and after treatment.Conclusion:ZSQG decoction has reliable efficacy , low recurrence rate and side effect on female delayed acne vulgaris.The mechanism of the therapy of ZSQG decoction may be credited with the anti-androgen action.
