Objective: The pathogenesis of non- Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) is unclear, Some studies showed Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) function may related with NHL. By this study we hope to find the clinicopathologic features of Xinjiang Uygur NHL and relationship with EBV infection in Xinjiang Uygur. Methods: Totally of 93 cases of Xinjiang Uygur NHL were choused from Tumor Hospital affiliated Xinjiang Medical University during the period 1998-2006 .All cases were reviewed by pathologists to identified the diagnosis and subtype , combining the result of immunohistochemistry (IHC) stain, then using the IHC stain to detect the EBV in totally 93 cases. Result: Clinicopathologic features: there were 61cases of males and 32 cases of females in 93 cases of in Xinjiang Uygur NHL, the ration of sex was 1.91:1; The age distribution was 4-87 yeas old , the average age was 44.54 yeas old ;There were 54 cases (54/93,58.06%) in lymph node, 39 cases (39/93,41.94%) in extra-node ,including 14 cases (14/39,35.89%) in Tonsil,9 cases (9/39,23.08%)in gastrointestinal tract, 7 cases(7/39,17.96%) in rhinopharynx, 3 cases(3/39,7.69%) in mediastinum, 3 cases(3/39, 7.69%) in vulva . 2 cases(2/39,5.13%) in chest wall skin, 1 cases(1/39,2.56%) in hip. The most common subtypes were Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) (43/93,46.24%), Follicular Lymphoma (FL) (14/93,15.05%) and Extra-nodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) ( 11/93,11.83%). The detection of EBV: There were 12 cases were positive (12/93,12.90%), including 5 cases of DLBCL (5/43,11.63%), 1 case of Plasma cell lymphoma (1/2,50%), 3 cases of T lymphoblastic lymphoma (3/4,75%),l case of MALT (1/11,9.09%)and 2 cases of Burkitt lymphoma (2/2,100%).Conclusions: Comparing with other reports, the average age of xinjiang uygur NHL was younger ,the cases of male was more than those of female ; There were more cases in lymph node than in extra node, and the most common subtypes were DLBCL ,FL and MALT; The positive rate on EBV is lower in Xinjiang Uygur, showed that were only the concomitant phenomenon or only a predisposing factor.
