Objective:To study diagnose and therapy of Langerhans cell histiocytosis of the temporal bone.Methods:Ten cases of LCH of the temporal bone verified by histopathology were retrospectively analyzed.Of the 10 patients were respectively half of man and woman whose age ranged from 1 to 60 years and average age was 20.4 years.In 10 patients,3 cases were Hand-Schuller-Christian and 7 cases were Eosinophilic granulomal.Clinical manifestation were swell of ear and temporal bone,defect of skull,otorrhea,Perforation of ear drum,granulomal of auricular canal,tinnitus,vertigo,hearing loss,headache and diabetes inspidus in these patients.Results:Eight cases were cured after surgical curettage and radiotherapy.Two patients were cured after surgical curettage and chemotherapy,2 case was respectively residual of diabetes insipidus and dwarfism.Conclsion:Diagnosis of LCH should be based on sythetical analysis of clinical manifestation,feature of imaging and histopathology.Surgical curettage, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are effective treatments.Although LCH is very critical,without vital organ involvent and not misdiagnosis and rational treat timely,the prognosis is generally good.But residual of diabetes insipidus or dwarfism of LCH are obstinate.
