Objective To investigate the clinical features ,incidence, relative risk factors andprognosis of patients with aortic aneurysm associated chronic disseminated intravascularcoagulopathy. To increase our knowledge on AA associated chronic DIC.Method Eighty five patients were diagnosed as aortic aneurysm in our hospital fromJanuary 2000 to December 2006. From analysing retrospectively clinical features andlaboratory datas of those patients to investigate relativity of aortic aneurysm andchronic disseminated intravascular coagulopathy. Results Our study include eighty five patients whose average age was 62±17 yearsold. Twenty three patients of them were diagnosed AAassociated chronic DIC,and the incidence of chronic DIC in patients with aortic aneurysm was 27 percents. 87percents of patients with AA associated chronic DIC showed atypical DIC. Femalespatients with aortic aneurysm were more dangerous to appeared chronic DIC than malespatients. Devided these 85 patients into two groups,DIC group and non-DIC group. Therewas no statistical difference on age, aneurysm diameter size, smoking, drinking and elseconcomitant diseases. Twenty three patients with AA associated chronic DIC werefollowed. During 2.4±1.6 years follow-up period,2 of the patients died of cardiac death, and 21of the patients wells. Three patients with bleeding symptom improved aftertreatment by stents implants, surgery excision, or anticoagulant agent. Conclusion The incidence of chronic DIC in patients with aortic aneurysm was 27percents. Majority patients with AA associated chronic DIC showed atypical DIC.Females patients with aortic aneurysm were more dangerous to appeared chronic DICthan males patients. The prognosis of the patients with AA associated chronic DIC isusually good.
