Objective To study the effect of intermittent pneumatic compression on fracture healing, provide a late-modle which can promote bone fracture healing. So, according to this study,we can appraisal the therapeutic efficacy of fracture.Methods A 3-mm gap was performed in right mid-tibials of 26 New Zealand white rabbits. The osteotomy site was stabilized with longleg plaster cast external fixation postoperative.The rabbits were divided randomly into two groups such as group A and B. On postoperative a week,the external fixation was removed.Then they were fixed with longleg plaster splint.The A group was treated with intermittent pneumatic compression at midpart of the calf. The treated was done for 30 minutes twice a day for eight weeks. The group B was not treated as the control group .The animals were haemospasia at ear-edge vien with empty stomach in 1,2,3,4 week Fracture healing was assessed with X-ray and bone mineral density test per two postoperative weeks. At 10 postoperative weeks, the rabbits were killed. Both tibias were transected for biomechanical testing.Results After surgery.then the blood was centrifugated and collected serum test with NO,NOS,ALP. After IPC, there are difference between tow groups and interblock with serum NO,NOS,ALP(NO:F=31.84,P<0.0001; NOS: F= 24.09,P<0.0001;ALP: F= 56.70,P<0.0001).The content of NO,NOS increased along with the times in group A. The level of them improved fast in postoperative three weeks and slowly at 4th week; The content of NO,NOS in group B has the same as group A. But, at 4th week, they decreased.at the level of 2th week after surgery. Serum ALP of group A increased in first 3 weeks, and drop in at 4th week suddenly. The content of ALP at 4th week lower than it at 2th week; The content of ALP of group B increased last. Difference was seen between two groups. Callus area , the quantity of osteoblast in the group A were more than the group B.There are difference between tow groups and interblock.Bone mineral density and bone mineral density ratio at the ostectomy of two groups increased along with times.At the 8th postoperative week in group A ,the BMD of the ostectomy was as same as the nomal. BMD and BMD ratio at the ostectomy increased significantly more in the group A Than in the group B at 4,6,8,10week (P﹤0.05,P﹤0.01).4 mechan- parameters of group A were also much more than the group B when they were normalized as a percentage of the value for the contralateral, intact tibial. It has difference (P﹤0.05,P﹤0.01).Conclusions IPC can to promote the fracture healing, to lighten soft tissue edema, to prevent bone loss, and improved the biomechanical properties of a healing osteotomy site .
