High performance liquid chromatography and near infrared spectroscopy were used for quality control of Traditional Chinese Medicines. Based on the HPLC, the quantitati- ve method of simultaneous analyses for the hesperidin,magnolol and honokiol, which are the three effective components contained in Chinese compound formula Huoxiang Zhengqi Oral Liquor, has been established using the gradient elution method. With regard to the established method, the three effective components contained in the sample have been analyzed with the good chromatographic separability, the high precision and accuracy, and the characters of the simplicity and stabilization have been shown. The established method can be easily used to control the quality of the drug.For the qulity control during the production process of Chinese herb, the root of the Paris polyphylla was studied. The result of qulity control was got from orthogonal test of L16(45) and ultrasonic wave. In order to study on the extraction technology optimization, orthogonal test of L16(45) and heating reflux were used and the optimized extraction has been found. The ratio of steroidal saponin is up to 11.49%.AB-8 resin was used to adsorb the Steroidal saponin,extract the impurity and wipe out the Steroidal saponin.And NIRS was used for the on-line monitoring of the AB-8 resin based on the Pattern Recognition. On-line monitoring three processes was realized: whether adsorptive saturation, whether extract all the impurity and whether wipe out all the Steroidal saponin.The main components in the Paris polyphylla Rhizoma pardis are pennogenin and dioscin which have different pharmacologic actions.In order to separate the two kind of components, the NIRS Discriminant Variable was used in two ways:by gradient elution and NIR diffuse reflectance spectroscopy or by equivalent elution and NIR transmission spectroscopy. The result is that 53%,60% and 80% of alcohol were used to desopting the saponin from the AB-8 resin, the two kinds of saponins were got. The recovery rates reached 82.6% and 87.2%,the purity reached 64.3% and 82.2%.
