Objective: To study the effects of prolactin(PRL) on uterine leiomyoma and Therelationship of prolactin and prolactin rectptor(PRL-R)Methods: Thirty patients with uterine leiomyoma as observed group and Thirty withhydrosalpinx or pyosalpingitis as control group during prolifrative phase were studied.Serum prolactin(PRL), estradiol(E2) and progesterone(P) level were determinted by radioimmuno assay befor , during and three months after hysterectomy in observed group andbefor salpingectomy in control group.We recorded the number of the leiomyoma andscaned them in verlical, horizontal and oblique section to measure the size of theleiomyoma (a, b, c), The volume of leimyoma (cm3)=abc×0.523, If for sends the naturalleiomyoma, each volume adds together. We collect leiomyoma and myometrial tissursfrom the observed group after hysterectomy and get a bit of myometrial tissurs from thecontrol group during salpingectomy, Immumocytochemical method was carried out todetected the expression of prolactin receptor(PRL-R).Results: Serum prolactin levels in observed group were singnificantly higher than that incontrol group (P=0.017).The serum prolactin level of uterine veins in observed group wassingnificantly higher than that of peri-veins'(P<0.05), The prolactin levels duringhysterectomy in observed group is singnificantly higher than that befor hysterectomy(p=0.000). The prolactin level of uterine veins was positive correlated to the volum ofleiomyoma (r=0.431, P<0.05) and the expression of PRL-R in leiomyoma (r=0.643,p<0.01) .Three months after hysterectomy the serum prolactin and estradiol level ofperi-veins in observed group was singnificantly decreased (p<0.05), Leiomyoma andmyometrial cells were positively stainde with prolactin receptor in cytoplasm,The positiverate in leiomyoma is higher than that in myometrial(u=2.260 p=0.024),and the positiverate in myometrial in observed group is higher than that in control group(u=2.515,p=0.012),Conclusion: Prolactin is an autocrine or paracrine growth factor for human myometrilaand leiomyoma cells.
