Objective: to study the mechanism of Tiaoqixifeng Mixture at actue state of Ischemic Apolplexy alleviating the damage of brain tissue and to observe the curative effect of Tiaoqixifeng Mixture. Methods: Animal experimental study: forty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: the normal group (normal eatting and drinking), the model group (operated), control group(operated and treated with Tiaoqixifeng Mixture) and the therapy group (operated and treated with Tiaoqixifeng Mixture).The later three groups applied MCAO model.After seven days treatment, the levels and contents of IL-1βand TNF-α,the activity of ICAM-1 in the peripheral blood and brain tissue were observed between groups. clinical study: thirty patients were randomly divided into therapy group(treated with Tiaoqixifeng Mixture and general westen medicine) controlled group(only using general westen medicine), each treatment period was three week . The neurologic founction scoring, clinical effect,clinical effect of TCM syndrome were observed before and after treatment. Results: Animal experimental study: At actue state of Ischemic Apolplexy Tiaoqixifeng Mixture decreased the levels of ICAM-1,IL-1βand TNF-α(P<0.01). Compared with control group, the therapy group were predominant differences (P<0.05 or P<0.01).clinical study: the ameliorations of the scorings of neural deficitthe, TCM syndrome of therapy group and the total effective rate(85%) of therapy group excelled controlled group(P<0.05). Conclusions: Tiaoqixifeng Mixture can alleviate the damage of brain tissue to a certain extent by controling Inflammatory reaction wich introduce by ICAM-1 and have a better curative effect.
