Objective:to discuss the imaging features and clinical application of ultrasound, intravenous pyelography(IVP)and computed tomography(CT)in evaluation of renal tuberculosis(TB).Material and Methods:The imaging material of 54 patients with renal TB confirmed by clinical and pathology were analyzed retrospectively. All the cases underwent ultrasound,IVP and CT.according to pathological characteristics of renal TB, we reviewed the corresponding imaging disorders including renal distortion, renal parenchyma, pelvis, calix, ureter, renal function and calcification.21 patients with advanced renal TB received surgery, which imaging features were contrasted to corresponding pathological results. Results:the detection rate of ultrasound,IVP and CT in diagnosis of renal TB were 53.3%,62.8%and 90.7%,respectively,which has statistically significant differences.(x~2=18.804 p<0.05).As far as displaying cavity, thickening wall of pelvis and ureter and calcification of advanced renal TB,CT is more sensitive than IVP or ultrasound(x~2=8.335 p<0.05 x~2=40.381 p<0.05 and x~2=10.096 p<0.05).Conclusion:CT could demonstrate the range, site, extent of renal TB and it is a more effective method to evaluate the disease before clinical therapy.
