Trichosanthes kirilowii is a kind of special local plant in China, with its oil content about 55%, in which trichosanic acid accounts for much. However there have not been articles reported about it. The trichosanic acid of Trichosanthes kirilowii is an anti-inflammatory agent, so it becomes increasingly popular. The paper dealed with the determining of the physic-chemical properties of Trichosanthes kirilowii oil including oil content, iodine value ,acid value, water component and vitamin. By means of UV,IR and GC, we preliminarily analyzed the components, structures and content of the fatty acids in Trichosanthes kirilowii oil, and we also analyzed the structure of trichosanic acid . In addition, the seed oil of Trichosanthes kirilowii was derivated with heterocycliczation method and then analyzed with GC/MS. The configuration of trichosanic acid is C18:39c,11t,13c, which content is confirmed to be 41.82% by peak area normalization. The triacylglycerols of Trichosanthes kirilowii oil was analyzed using RP-HPLC-MS and several important triacylglycerols was isolated. Stereospecific analysis was carried out to determine positional distribution of trichosanic acid because the configuration of triacylglycerols is very important. It shows that trichosanic acid is preferentially located at Sn-2 position.Phytosterol mainly exists in the unsaponifiables of Trichosanthes kirilowii. This paper studied the composition of the phytosterol and confirmed the component of them by peak area normalization. At last, we isolated the phytosterol by RP-HPLC and determine the best segregate conditions: fluent isopropanol/acetonitrile =25/75, column temperature 35℃,detection wavelength 210 nm.
