Recently, image fusion has become an important technology in image comprehend and computer vision, especially in medical domain. Doctors can get different details from different medical images because of the different imaging theory of medical instruments and application. Image fusion can combine kinds of useful information and become a key means in clinic diagnose and medical research. Through the complementary information the fused CT and MR image which are the most common image in clinic disease diagnose will contain more abundant, intuitionistic and comprehensive details, improving the veracity and correctness in the course of disease diagnose.The issue lays a strong emphasis on the image fusion technology based on CT and MR image. First, it discusses the theory and characteristics of traditional medical image fusion methods and analyses the limitations with the experimental results then, presents several kinds of rules which are applied to CT and MR image fusion through adopting the advanced wavelet transform, such as wavelet-weighted, regional energy and frequency domain method and so on. Experimental results show that image fusion method based on wavelet transform can achieve better effects; meanwhile this paper studies the evaluation of CT and MR image fusion for the characteristics of medical images. Finally, it conducts a preliminary research about medical image fusion technology based on the three-dimensional reconstruction.One of the innovations of the issue is offering a more comprehensive and valuable selection method based on CT and MR fusion evaluation. The purpose of studying evaluation of image fusion which is an important and complex task is not to tell good from bad of kinds of medical image fusion methods on special occasions, but offer a selection method for different application occasions. Another innovation in the paper is conducting a preliminary academic research about medical image fusion method based on the three-dimensional reconstruction which overcomes the limitation of requisite registration before the fusion in traditional methods. This method is simply and can be applied in a wider scope.
