Objective: To evaluate the efficiency and tolerance of continuous venovenous hemofiltration (CVVH) in hyperazotemic animal model treated with JH-3038 Blood Purification System, in order to probe the safety, efficacy and stability of CVVH in neonates treated with JH-3038 Blood Purification System. Methods: The experiments were performed in 16 New Zealand anesthetized rabbits(2.0-3.0kg), which are randomly divided into experimental group (CVVH with JH-3038 Blood Purification System) and control group (simple extracorporeal circulation). The hemodynamic condition and electrolytes were monitored during the procedure. The urea clearance in CVVH under different blood flow rates were calculated. Prescribed treatment dose, net ultrafiltration volume, and delivered treatment dose, delivered net ultrafiltration volume were recorded. The performance and stability of JH-3038 Blood Purification System were monitored during the procedure. Results: Heart rate, breath and blood pressure of the rabbits in two groups varied with the time(P<0.05),but the tendency of the change in experimental group was similar to that of control group(P≥0.05); heart rate, breath and blood pressure of the rabbits under different blood flows showed no significant difference(P>0.05).Electrolytes were kept balanced pre and post the therapy. Clearance of urea were 1.96±0.23ml/min and 3.01±0.35ml/min respectively under different blood flows. The deviation rate of treatment dose, net ultrafiltration volume and total volume control were 2.10 %, 3.75 % and0.48 % respectively. Conclusions: Animals with weight in the range between 2.0-3.0kg could keep the balance of fluid and electrolyte during CVVH under careful prescription and monitoring., and undergo CVVH with the blood flow of 8ml/min/kg. Basically, JH-3038 Blood Purification System could operate normally, to satisfy the general requirements of CVVH in neonates.
