Objective To explore the possible involvement of ulinastatin(UTI)in the development of lipopolysacccharide(LPS)-induced acute lung injury(ALI).Methods We selected thirty male SD rats which have same condition, then have built three groups:control rats(being injected with normal sodium 1ml via caudal vein),LPS rats(being injected with LPS via caudal vein as ALI sample),LPS+UZI rats(being injected with UTI shortly after injected with LPS).We determined the concentration of interleukin-18(IL-18)in abdominal aorta and in lung tissue by ELISA from male SD rats 4h after injected with LPS.and determined the concentration of nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB)in lung tissue by immunohistochemistry. Then we got pathological section and electron microscope section of these rats lung. Results The IL-18 of abdominal aorta and lun tissue was significantly higher in the rats at 4h after LPS injected than in control rats P<0.01,The level of IL-18 in LPS+UTI rats also little higher than in control rats, but there was not obvious difference between the two groups P>0.05.The concentration of NF-κB in LPS rats was significantly higher than in control rats P<0.01.The level of NF-κB in LPS+UTI rats was also little higher than in control rats, but there was no obvious difference between two groups.Pathological section and microscope section also supported that the inflammation reation of LPS+UTI rats lung is lighter than LPS rats'.Conclusion It is suggested that given UTI in ALI rats can play an important role that it canⅡdecrease inflammation reaction of ALI.
