Objects: To investigate the relationship between anti-annexin V antibodies and recurrent spontaneous abortion. Methods: The serum samples, which were obtained from the study group, composed of 73 women with early recurrent spontaneous abortion (27 unpregnant women and 46 early pregnant women) , and from the control group, composed of 42 normal women (20 unpregnant women and 22 early pregnant women), were measured by Enzyme-Linked immunosorbant assay for anti-annexin V IgG and IgM antibodies. Human chorionic gonadotropin (β-hCG) of pregnant women was measured by Microparticle Enzyme Immunoassay. Plasma viscosity was measured by automatic-hemorheologic machine.Results:(1) The study group demonstrated significantly higher concentration of anti-annexin V IgG than the control group (P<0.01) , no difference of concentration of anti-annexin V IgG was demonstrated between pregnant and unpregnant women (P>0.05) , the positive ratio of anti-annexin V IgG of the study group is 21.92% , higher than that of the control group(P<0.05) , but no difference of concentration of anti-annexin V IgM was seen between the study and control group (P>0.05) .(2) The plasma viscosity of the study group with positive anti-annexin V IgG was higher than that of the study group with negative anti-annexin V IgG (P<0.05) , and was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.01) . The plasma viscosity of the study group with negative anti-annexin V IgG was also higher than that of the control group (P<0.05) .(3) The upgrading ratio ofβ-hCG every other day in the study group with positive anti-annexin V IgG was lower than that of the study group with negative anti-annexin V IgG (P<0.05) , and significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.01) . The upgrading ratio ofβ-hCG every other day in the study group with negative anti-annexin V IgG was also lower than that of the control group (P<0.05 ).(4) The achievement ratio of pregnancy for more than 20 weeks with disappeared anti-annexin V IgG was higher than that with persistently positive anti-annexin V IgG (P<0.05) .Conclusions:(1) Anti-annexin V IgG , which demonstrates no difference between pregnant or unpregnant women, has a intimate correlation with early recurrent spontaneous abortion, and can be used in prognosis of pregnant outcome.(2) Anti-annexin V IgG contributes to the upgrading of plasma viscosity and the descending secretion ofβ-hCG, which is probably the pathogenisis of this antibody provoking spontaneous abortion.(3) Anti-annexin V IgM has no relationship with early recurrent spontaneous abortion.
