Objective To study the expression level of the regeneration inhibiting factor of neural axon Nogo-A and NgR proteins in hippocampus of epileptic rat, and explore the relationship of Nogo-A, NgR and MFS, then to provide gist for the research of the outbreak of epilepsy. Method Establishing animal model of temporal lobe epilepsy by injecting KA subcutaneously. (1) Streptavidin-peroxidose(s-p) was performed to detect the expression level of Nogo-A and NgR proteins and then the pigmentation was analyzed with image analyzer. (2) The hippocampus of epileptic rat was dyed with Timm's stain and its result was analyzed semi-quantitatively. Results (1) No significant difference was found among Nogo-A groups and normal groups (pï¹¥0.05). (2) The expression level of NgR protein decreased in the group of four hours and then returned to the normal level in the group of seven days after KA injecting. There were significant differences both in and between the NgR groups and normal groups. (3)The results of Timm's stain: the Timm's stain was in a light color after two weeks and then in dark after two months. Conclusion: The expression level of Nogo-A protein in hippocampus of epileptic rat remained unchanged and that of NgR protein show down-regulation at the early stage after KA injecting. It can be drawn that the occurrence of mossy fiber sprouting is related to the down-regulation of NgR protein.
