Objective:this research is based on some theories of Chinese medicine about etiology, pathogenesis,differentiation and treatments of essential hypertension,and this research suggests remove blood stasis to get rid of phlegm be therapeutic principle for essential hypertension of phlegm-stases blocking collateral type. And to study the effect and mechanism of essential hypertension of phlegm-stases blocking collateral type.Methods:sixty patients were randomly divided into two groups,the 30 patients in the control group treated with enalapril maleate,and the 30 patients in the treated group treated with enalapril maleate and Huatanhuoxue decoction.The changes of blood pressure,clinical symptoms,nitric oxide(NO),plasma endoth-elin(ET) level before and after treatment were observed.Results:the total effective rate of blood pressure in the treated and the control group is 90% and 80% respectively,with significant difference between them. the total effective rate of clinical symptoms in the treated group is 93.33%,this is preferable to the control group.The level of serum NO in the treated group is advanced,and the level of plasma ET is lowered, this is preferable to the control group.Conclusion: Huatanhuoxue decoction has quite a promising effect in treating essential hypertension of phlegm-stases blocking collateral type.It can raise the level of serum NO,and degrade the level of plasma ET,so huatanhuoxue decoction has a effect on improving the function of blood vessel endothelium.
