Objective: To investigate the accuracy and feasibility of sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) by using radiopharmacculticsls (99mTc-SC) in treatment of the T1-2 N0M0 breast cancer. Methods: From Jun.2006 to Apr.2007, lymphatic mapping by using radiopharmaccuticals 99mTc-SC injection into subdermal directly overlying the tumor were performed on 37 patients with clinical auxiliary node negative T1-2 breast cancer, then all patients received breast operations including standard auxiliary lymph nodes dissection (ALND).The sentinel lymph nodes and the non-sentinel lymph nodes were inspected together. We got the data that was judged with the same standard in pathology department and measured it with the statistical methods.Result: The sentinel lymph nodes of 36 patients were successfully identified in 37, the accuracy rate of SLNB was 97.3% (36,37) . At first, because of lack of experience and technique ,SLN was only successfully identified in 14 of 15 (93.3%).Later, the accuracy rate of SLNB was 100% (22,22). The false negative rate was 18.8%(3,16).There were 2 false negative cases in 15 at first, and the false negative rate was 28.6% (2,7) .Later the false negative rate was 11.1% (1,9).The accuracy rate of SLNB to predict auxiliary lymph node status was 91.7% (33,36) .Conclusion: The false negative rate is higher than the document report (3%~5%). But with increasing some patients , we can improve the accuracy rate and the false negative rate. SLNB can accuracy predict the metastatic status of auxiliary negative node in T1-2 breast cancer. SLNB can improve the accuracy of the auxiliary lymph node staging, and decrease the extent of surgery and postoperative complication in patients with breast cancer.
