| OBJECTIVEThis study is aimed to select a better nickel-ceramic alloy. With the beauty of the ceramic and the strength of the metal, the porcelain-fused-to metal(PFM) is more and more used in the field of dentistry restoration. Today, the most widely used and accepted also is nickel-ceramic alloy. However, the problems occurring in the nickel-ceramic alloy are always puzzled us. In accordance with these problems, on the basement of the study and comparison with the alloys, internal and external, three new types of nickel-ceramic alloys are made in the Institute of Metal Research; the elementary composition is base elements of nickel, Cr 15-20Wt%, Mo 5-10Wt%, Co 0.5-2Wt%, Al 1-3Wt%, Ti 0-1Wt%, a little rare elements, and in one of type there is some Be. This experiment is aimed to select the best combination of ceramic to metal in the three new type nickel-ceramic alloys, compared with the abroad one, using three-point flexure bond test and scanning electron microscope. If this new kind of the nickel-ceramic-tilite alloy could be susessfully manufactured, the kinds of the nickel-ceramic alloys will be more various, and decrease the import, reduce the cost, suit the consumption level of the citizens, form the independence intellectual property rights. It will creat greatly social effects and economic returnsMATERIAL AND METHODAccording to the standard of ISO9693, metal specimens was made with the size of 25mm×5mm×0.5rnm using the alloy of the Group 1,2,3 and comparative group. There are seven specimens in every group, treat the surface by the same process, make a mark in the middle of every specimens, put the ceramic on the metal to fuse them together with a prepared splint to control the thickness of the ceramic. Then, a jig mounted on the test machine was used at a crosshead speed of 1mm/min to test the failure figures of all the specimens except the one which is selected stochasticly.Scanning electron microscope and energy spectrum analysis was used to observe the interface of the specimen which was selected.RESULTThe data showed no differences between group 1,2,3 and comparative group(P>0.05). Ffail: Comparative group >Group 1>Group 2>Group 3.From the microscope, we can see that the combination between metal and ceramic are tight and simonized in group 1,2,3 and comparative group. And the result of energy spectrum analysis showed that Cr is the most active; Cr is dispersing from metal to interface while Al and Si from ceramic to interface and lastly, forming a better combination between metal and ceramic.CONCLUSIONThis experiment showed that in the three new type nickel-ceramic alloy, group 1 is a better one in the part of combination of ceramic to metal. |
