Objective To investigate and compare the effect of laparoscopic and Conventional resections on immune and stress to colorectal cancer patients. Methods Twenty patients with colorectal cancer were randomly divided into two groups and accepted laparoscopic operation and open operation respectively. Blood samples were taken prior to surgery as well as on days 1 and 3 after surgery. The percentage of CD3, CD4, CD8 and CD4 / CD8, ROS and NO in peripheral blood were assayed. Results: Decrease were detected regarding CD3, CD4 and CD4 / CD8 to surgery in patients after laparoscopic and open surgery, Furthermore, significantly decrease in open surgery .The production of NO and ROS did not show significant differences after open surgery, but significantly increase after laparoscopic surgery(P<0.05). Conclusions: Our findings showed that a significant immunologic advantage in laparoscopic operation compared with open operation.
