Objective To observe the influence of atorvastatin on serum inflammation cytokines IL-6,high-sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and sVCAM level in patients with acute coronarysyndrome(ACS), to know whether early intensive atorvastatin treatment may yield more significantbenefits in the patients of ACS.Methods Sixty-five patients of ACS were randomized to three groups: Group A(n=22) treated withatorvastatin from the first day, Group B(n=22) treated with atorvastatin from the first week, and GroupC (n=21) treated with atorvastatin from the second week, at the same time all the group treated withroutine therapy from the first day to the end. Serum IL-6,hs-CRP and sVCAM level of the threegroups were measured on the first week, the second week and the fourth week by enzymelinked-immuno-sorbent assay (ELISA).Results In all the groups: the concentrations of TC and LDL-C in group A remarkably decrease inthe end, there are statistical significance between the first week's and the fourth week's (P<0.01), butthere are no statistical significance in the Group B and Group C(P>0.01); the concentrations of TGand HDL-C in all the groups have no statistical significance between the first week's and the fourthweek's (P>0.05). The concentrations of hs-CRP,sVCAM-1 and IL-6 in group A remarkably decreaseon the first week, the second week and the fourth week, compared with the treament-before, there arestatistical significance between them(P<0.01); in group B, there are statistical significance between thesecond weeks' and the fourth weeks' in group C, there are statistical significance between the secondweeks' and the fourth weeks' (P<0.05). On the first week, there are statistical significance betweengroup A and group B,group A and group C (P<0.05); On the second week, there are statisticalsignificance between group A and group C,group B and group C(P<0.05); On the fourth week, thereare statistical significance between group A and group C,group B and group C(P<0.05).Conclusion Early treatment for ACS with atorvastatin can remarkably decrease the concentration ofserum inflammatory cytokines IL-6,hs-CRP and sVCAM-1, the anti-inflammation of atorvastatin hasno correaltion with its lipids suppression, early intensive atorvastatin treatment may yield moresignificant benefits in the patients of ACS.
