Purpose: To explore the characters of higher-order aberrations(HOAs) in pediatric hyperopic eyes and pediatric hyperopic amblyopic eyes, and study the differences between the different diopters and corrected visual activity. Methods: 102 hyperopic eyes of 55 subjects participated in the experiment. The mean age was 7.78±2.52years ; mean spherical refraction was +2.50±2.10D ; mean cylindrical refraction was +1.01±0.85D; the spherical equivalent was +2.98D with a range of +0.5D to +7.5D. These subjects were grouped to high hypermetropia, medium hypermetropia and low hypermetropia, and low hypermetropia was grouped by BSCVA once more. Tropicamide Eye Drops was used to make the pupil mydriasis. Higher–order optical aberrations were measured in these 102 cyclopleged children using a ZYWAVEⅡaberrometer .Results: The mean RMS values of HOAs,TC,TSA, and RMS5 were 0.36±0.17um,0.21±0.11um,0.12±0.10um and 0.07±0.03um,respectively. Group 1: HOAs, TC, TSA, and RMS5 were 0.37±0.13um,0.20±0.12um,0.13±0.11um和0.07±0.03um,respectively. Group 2: The HOAs,TC,TSA,and RMS5 were 0.35±0.11um,0.21±0.11um,0.08±0.06um and 0.08±0.04um,respectively. Group 3: HOAs,TC,TSA,and RMS5 were 0.38±0.12um,0.24±0.08um,0.14±0.09um and 0.07±0.03um,respectively. The RMS level of HOAs, TC, TSA, and RMS5 changed slightly and not significantly with increasing refractive error (all P>0.05). Group 1A:the HOAs,TC,TSA,and RMS5 were 0.34±0.11um,0.18±0.12um,0.09±0.06um and 0.07±0.03um,respectively. Group 1B:HOAs,TC,TSA,and RMS5 0.40±0.14um,0.23±0.12um,0.16±0.13um and 0.07±0.03um were ,respectively. The TSA of group 1A is larger than group 1B( P<0.05). Group 4: the HOAs,TC,TSA,and RMS5 were 0.34±0.11um,0.18±0.12um,0.09±0.06um and 0.07±0.03um,respectively. Group 5: the HOAs,TC,TSA,and RMS5 were 0.33±0.11um,0.17±0.09um,0.08±0.05um and 0.08±0.05um ,respectively. Group 6: The HOAs,TC,TSA,and RMS5 were 0.37±0.11um,0.25±0.09um,0.12±0.09um and 0.07±0.03um,respectively. The RMS level of HOAs,TC, and RMS5 was not significantly changed (all P>0.05),with RMS level of TSA measurements significantly different amonge three groups (P<0.05). The RMS level of TSA measurements of group 6 was larger than group 4's and group 5's.Conclusion: 1. For hyperopic children, TC>TSA>RMS5;2.For Low hyperopic children, amblyopic eyes show less levels of the TSA than nonamblyopic eyes; 3. For amblyopic children,TSA is significant increase for high hyperopia compared with other refractive error groups, but otherwise no general trend in the data;4.For amblyopic children, the RMS5 ,TC and HOAs have no differences between different refractive error groups;5.The RMS5,TC,TSA and HOAs have no differences between different refractive error groups;6.The study help us understand the mechanism of amblyopia and make the further study.
