Objective To analyse the diagnosis and therapeutic methods of acute arterial embolism, and the prevention and treatment of the postoperative complication after embolectomy for arterial embolism. Method 35 extremeties of 33 cases with acute arterial embolism were treated by Forgarty catheter including 2 arteries of upper limbs and 33 of lower limbds. There were 2 cases to bridge meanwhile, 4 cases received amputations Result There were 2 cases of perioperative death, 2 cases received postoperative amputations,2 cases postoperative osteofascial compartment syndrome received decompress, 25 cases healed. 96. 3 percent of extremity survived in earlier period, 57.1 percent survived in relative advanced stage. Conclusion As soon as diagnosis is established, embolectomy with Forgarty cathter must be carried out to decrease necrosis of the extremity.
