Objective:To study the effect of Jinghuaweikang Jiaowan for recovering stomach health on the levels of NO, NOS and ET in the gastric mucous of rats with gastric ulcer.Methods:Following the establishment of a gastric ulcer model of rats using the Okabe method,48 rats were randomly 1:1 assigned to one of six groups:0.9% saline solution, Jinghuaweikang Jiaowan(30, 20, 10mg·kg-1·d-1),sucralfate( 10mg·kg-1·d-1) and famotidine(5 mg·kg-1·d-1). All of these rats were orally supplemented with the corresponding dose of study drugs daily for 10 days. The width of the ulcer mucous and the thickness of regenerated mucous, the ulcer area,as well as the levels of NO, NOS and ET in gastric mucosal tissue were measured 1 day after the last dosing.Results:The Jinghuaweikang Jiaowan significantly make the ulcer area, ET level and the width of the ulcer mucous reductions and NO, NOS levels as well as the thickness of regenerated mucous escalations in the gastric mucosa in a dose-dependent manner,compared to the control group(P<0.01). The Jinghuaweikang Jiaowan (30mg·kg-1·d-1) were superior to sucralfate and famotidine in the protection of gastric mucosa(P<0.05).Conclusion:The Jinghuaweikang Jiaowan may accelerate the healing of gastric ulcer by balancing NO,NOS and ET levels in gastric mucosa in rat.
