Objective : To determine the expressions of type Ⅰ and Ⅲ collagen in uterosacral ligaments in women with pelvic organ prolapse combined with stress urinary incontinence or not, and to discuss the relationship of them。Methods: Cases: The specimen of uterosacral ligaments were taken from 25 patients undergoing hysterectomy with pelvic organ prolapse(POP) (test group)who never accepted hormone therapy and from ten cases without it (control group), hospitalized in our hospital from Sep, 2005 to Jun, 2006。 The test group was divided into 2 groups: one with stress urinary incontinence (SUI) (11 cases) and the other without it (POP group, 14cases)。 Specimen: The specimens were taken from the right anterior 1/3 uterosacral ligaments, about 1 × 1 ×0.2cm~3 in size, and then were put into the 10% neutral formalin for 12 hours, routine dehydration, embedded in paraffin, made in 3μm slices, adhered on the slide covered with poly—lysine, put into oven with 80℃ for 1 hour。 Methods: The expressions of both type Ⅰ and Ⅲ collagen were tested by immunohistochemitoryo Estimation: Stained collagen was yellow ( + ) and brownyellow was (++), and no collagen was achromaticity ( — ) 。Results: 1. The expression of type ⅠI collagen in the three groups: The expression of type Ⅰ collagen of POP group was [-]7cases 72% , [+]3cases 21 % , [++] 1 case 7 %, and significantly reduced compared to control group (p<0.01)。The expression of type Ⅰ collagen of POP with SUI group was[-] 10cases 90.9%, [+]1 case 9.1%, [++]0,which were considered statistically significant verses to the...
