Generally speaking, most medical images are still greyscale images while human being's vision system is more sensitive to color model than to grey. In order to effectively improve the ability to identify greyscale values in medical images with eyes, directly observe and ananlyze the images to find out focus on time, this article closely studies medical image color mapping approach, namely the approach to map luminance change of greyscale image into chromatic values.This research includes three main parts as follows,Firstly, summarize some main approaches to greyscale image color mapping, such as traditional pseudo-color approach and the existing color transfer approach.. Explain the basic principle of color transfer approach, analyze several latest typical color transfer approaches and apply them to medical image processing. After that, point out the advantages and disadvantages among them.Secondly, to improve the effect of global color mapping, introduce the concept of texture cell and come up with a color mapping approach based on texture statistical features information. Colors were matched with the help of colorized Visible Human Project dataset source image and co-occurrence matrix statistical features. The application of higher dimension and higher power statistical features enhances the accuracy and effectiveness of color mapping. The detailed process of this approach, the expirement result and analysis are provided.Thirdly, the user interactive approach to choose swatches, and to identify the corresponding relation between swatches in source, color image and destination, greyscale image can enhance...
