Malignant tumor has become one of the major diseases which threats people's life and health severely. Although after several decades struggle, most of common malignanct tumors have not got satisfied curative effects, there have been great progresses in therapy for cancer. The task of prevention and cure of malignant tumor is still quite hard. Due to many anti-tumor drugs exert cure action mostly via inducing tumor cells apoptosis, so trying to induce tumor cells apoptosis and increase the ratio of death/proliferation has become the new target of chemotherapy. Moreover, the degree of cell apoptosis can be a new index by way of evaluating chemotherapy, and it is likely to be a standard for choosing new anti-tumor drugs. Thereby researchers pay attention to discover and develop drugs which can induce apoptosis of tumor cells. Cimetidine is a sort of old drug, and it has extensive clinical purposes. Cimetidine,s function of anti-tumor more and more has been attached importance. Cimetidine is known to suppress the growth of several tumors, including gastric and colorectal cancer, in human and animals. It has marked effect of anti-cancer. Nonetheless, the exact mechanisms by which cimetidine affects tumor growth and progression remain poorly understand. The present study was conducted to evaluate the anti-cancer action of CMD in vitro and in vivo, and the mechanism of action.Aim: To investigate the anti-tumor effect of CMD in vitro and in vivo, and to discuss potential mechanisms of activity through tumor cells apoptosis.
