| Objective To investigate the difference of clinical therapeutic effect of the Apofix interlaminar clamp for posterior cervical fusion and fixation of steel wire for posterior cervical fusion.Method Surgical treatments of 65 cases with atlanto-axial instability or dislocation were reviewed.22 cases were treated using Gallie's technique,30 cases were treated using Brook's technique,13 cases were treated using Apofix interlaminar clamp. All the cases were followed up for 3 months to 17 years evaluating the results of internal fixation, bone fusion and neurological defect recovery (according to JOA standard). Conclusion There are satisfactory clinical therapeutic effect in the treatment of atlanto-axial instability by Apofix interlaminar clamp for posterior cervical fusion and fixation of steel wire for posterior cervical fusion. With the anatomic reduction of atlantoaxial joint by effective skull traction before operation good effect of atlantoaxial fusion can obtained. It's an effective and simple methods to treat the atlanto-axial instability or dislocation by Apofixinterlaminar clamp for posterior cervical fusion, which cuts down the occurrence of nonunion, but there are no outstanding difference in treatment of the spinal injury between the Apofix interlaminar clamp for posterior cervical fusion and fixation of steel wire for posterior cervical fusion. So the Apofix Interlaminar clamp for posterior cervical fusion is the first choice of atlantoaxial fusion between the two technique. |
