Objective The purpose of this study was to evaluate skeletal and dental changes induced by RME in late mixed dentition using cephalometrically study and models study, and to determine the incidence of complications such as relapse of expansion, open bite ,pain and tissue swelling ,and also sugested the method of prevention. Methods 60 patiens who had mixed dentition and a thin palatal were slected, they were divided into 2 groups: treatment groups were treated with acrylic rapid maxillary expansion device ,compare groups were untreated in 6 months. Lateral cephalometric films and upper and lower plaster models wre obtained before tremtment, after treatment, and just after retention. An SPSS11.0 statistical package for windos was used for the evaluation of measurements. Results The maxillary complex moved forward and downward, and mandible exhibited adownward and backward rotation. treatment was associated with increases in the mean values for SNA,ANB,SN-PP,SN-U6(/K0.01).Point Amove forward, point B move backward, overjet was increases. Lower face height increase,SNB decrease ,MP-PP,SN-U6 increase may result in open bit .The model evaluation shows that the width of maxilly increased significantly(p<0.01),esppecially in the premolar and molar regions. Conclusion The finding of our study revealed that ,RME shoud...
