Objective: To investigate the expression of P27, β-catenin, P21-ras in breast benign and maligant lesions and the correlation to cancer development. Method: Immunohistochemical staining method of Envision was used to detect the P27, β-catenin and P21-ras gene expressions in 15 usual ductal hyperplasia, 28 atypical ductal hyperplasia and 25 breast cancer tissue. Result: P27 protein high expressive rate in usual ductal hyperplasia and atypical ductal hyperplasia was 86.6% (13/15) and 82.1% (23/28). which was significantly different from the expression in invasive ductal carcinoma 36.0% (9/25) (P<0.05). The expressions of β-catenin and P21-ras were in usual ductal hyperplasia 20.0% (3/15), 13.3%(2/15), atypical ductal hyperplasia 28.4%(8/28), 32.1% (9/28), invasive ductal carcinoma 84.0 (21/25), 68.0% (17/25) respectively. β-catenin and P21-ras were high in invasive ductal carcinoma, which were significantly different from the expression in the benign breast epithelia (P<0.05). Conclusion: the abnormal expressions of P27, β-catenin and P21-ras may be related to the occurrence and development of invasive ductal carcinoma.
