Purpose: To investigate the efficacy in inducing posterior vitreous detachment(PVD) by intravitreal injection of lysine-plasminogen and reteplase in rabbits, and the safety of intravitreal lysine-plasminogen and reteplase in rabbits.Mathods: 15 Newsland rabbits were randomized into 3 groups, 5 in each groups. 125μg lysine-plasminogen in 0.1ml balanced salt solution(BSS)and diffrent doses of reteplase in 0.05ml BSS were injected into the vitreous cavity of right eyes to induced PVD. Group 1 received 125μg lysine-plasminogen in 0.1ml BSS and 10,000U reteplase in 0.05ml BSS; Groups 2 received 125μg lysine-plasminogen in 0.1ml BSS and 30,000U reteplase in 0.05ml BSS; Group 3 received 125μg lysine-plasminogen in 0.1ml BSS and 100,000 U reteplase in 0.05ml BSS. Fellow eyes were injected 0.15ml BSS. Slit-lamp biomicroscopy, +120 diopter precorneal lens, Electroretinograms (ERGs) were recorded up tol4 days after injection. All animals were killed after 20 days, and morphologic alterations were assessed by light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).
