Objectives To assess the effectiveness and safety of cerebrospinal fluid replacement / permutation therapy for subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Methods The Cochrane systematic review method was used to evaluate the Randomized Controlled Trials (RCT) of cerebrospinal fluid replacement /permutation therapy for SAH. The searching strategy included: The CochraneCentral Register of Controlled Trials ( Issue 4, 2005) , MEDLINE ( 1966 to Nov. 2005) ,EMBASE (1984 to Nov. 2005), the China Biological Medicine Database (1979-2005.11) , the CNKI Database (1979-2005.11) ,the Chinese Stroke Clinical Trials Database (2003-2005.11), the Papers First (OCLC) Database (1993-2005.11), the China Doctor & Master Dissertation Full-text Database (1999-2005.11) ,the Chinese Proceedings of Conference Full-text Database (1999-2005.11) and the reference lists of related articles. Two reviewers independently selected studies, assessed quality of studies and extracted data. The RevMan 4. 2 software was used for statistical analysis.
