Coptis chinensis Franch.,from Coptis genus of Ranuncul--aceae family, is one of the most important Chinese Traditional Medicines. The officinal part is its rhizome. According to the literature and investigation , there are about sixteen species of Coptis genus in the world. In China, cultivated species and wild species such as C.deltoidea C.Y. Cheng et Hsiao, C. omeiensis (Chen) C.Y. Cheng, C.teeta Wall. and C. teetoides C.Y. Cheng have been used for treatment.Referring to the classification and Latin names of C.teeta Wall. and C. teetoides C.Y. Cheng ,different scholars have different viewpoints. In order to study the relationship between them, provide scientific evidences for their classification and identification. A systematic pharmacognostic comparison and RAPD anaylsis about them is studied in this paper.By means of RAPD technique , this thesis studies the genetic character of C. teete Wall. and C. teetoides C.Y. Cheng, establishes a new method for their identification, provides evidence for their classification at the level of molecular biology.Original plants and medicinal materials are studied in morphological features. The foliages and rhizomes are investigated in inner structures and microscopic characters.
