Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is the most common benign tumor in parotid gland. But its relapse rate is higher than most benign tumor because of some characteristics of invasion, and reapeated recurrencese may lead to malignant transformation. There are many factors relevant to tumor's invasion, and cell adhesion molecule plays an important role in it. CD44 is one kind of unclassified cell adhesion molecule. Many researchers have found that CD44v6,one of variant isoforms of the CD44,is associated with tumor's progression, invasion, prognosis, metabasis and so on. In the study, we planed to study the expression of CD44v6 in recurrent pleomorphic adenoma(RPA) and carcinoma in/ex pleomorphic adenoma(Ca in-PA)of parotid.10 specimens of recurrent pleomorphic adenomas of parotid and its first operation's tissues,20 unrecurrent pleomorphic adenomas of parotid,20 Ca in-PA of parotid were included in this study. Using immunohistochemistry method, the expression of CD44v6 was detected and analyzed. In both unrecurrent pleomorphic adenomas and the first operation's tissues of recurrent pleomorphic adenomas, the expression...
