Objectives To provide a model of excitotoxic damage in neonatal murine brain for the further research of cerebral protecting effect of some drugs on excitotoxic damage. To explore a new experimental method for clinic intervention of perinatal brain lesions in newborn infant.Methods We selected sixty ICR-type mice which were five days old and came from different dams. The mice were then divided into two groups at random, experimental group and control group. After intracerebral injection of ibotenate in experimental group, the pups were divided into two sub-groups at random , group A and group B. Similarly, after intracerebral injection of normal sodium in control group, the pups were divided into two sub-group, group C and group D.
