Cortex Fraxini (Qinpi) is an effective traditional Chinese medicine, and listed in the first section of the 2000's edition of "Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China". It has the functions of dispelling wind-heat to reduce fever and detoxifcating, control acerbity, clear eyes. Recently years, discovered Cortex Fraxini (Qinpi) has the functions of expectorant, relieve cough and asthma. Used for chronic bronchitis, can make use of single on clinic. To reduce the side effects and maintain relatively constant plasma concentration, the thesis was aiming at the research of the extracts of bioactive site of Cortex Fraxini, the sustained release tablet of Total Coumarins of Cortex Fraxini was designed and prepared by using HPMC as basic matrix material with other excipients. The sustained release tablets were evaluated by in vitro an in vivo methods.Ultraviolet spectrophotometry method was developed for assaying during the study of physiochemical properties of Total Coumarins of Cortex Fraxini, release rate of the tablets and content determine. The methods were sensitive, accurate and simple,suitable for the analysis of the thesis.Orthogonal test was used to optimize the experiment conditions on distilltechnics of Total Coumarins. Acid-dye colorimetric method was applicated to study the absorption of Total Coumarins fiom intestine by utilizing intestinal absorption experiment of rats in situ.
